On May 22, 2025, Xiaomi officially launched its first luxury electric SUV, the YU7, during its 15th-anniversary strategic release event. Positioned as a high-performance, luxury electric vehicle, the YU7 is designed to compete with leading models such as the Tesla Model Y and Li Auto L6. Featuring a stunning new design, impressive range, and state-of-the-art technology, the YU7 promises to reshape the electric SUV landscape.

Revolutionary Design: A Perfect Blend of Aerodynamics and Luxury

The YU7 continues Xiaomi’s design language seen in the SU7, but with a more aggressive stance and sleek features. Measuring 4999mm in length, 1996mm in width, and 1600mm in height, the SUV’s low, coupe-like profile reflects a blend of performance and elegance. The aerodynamic design includes over 40 optimized features, such as 10 sets of through-wind ducts and a unique active grille that adjusts to reduce drag. This attention to detail reduces the drag coefficient to just 0.245, which enhances range by 59km on the CLTC cycle.

The YU7’s front showcases a "waterdrop headlamp" design inspired by high-end sports cars, with integrated airflow channels that provide 180-degree ultra-wide-angle lighting. The SUV will be available in three exclusive colors: Gem Green, Titanium Metal, and Lava Orange, with the Gem Green finish using a double-layer coating process that mimics the reflections of emerald gemstones.

Smart Cabin: A Seamless, Immersive Experience

The cabin of the YU7 introduces Xiaomi’s HyperVision panoramic display, a first in the industry. This advanced system integrates three Mini-LED screens to project a 1.1-meter wide, ultra-retina-quality display that offers immersive interactions, including navigation, blind-spot monitoring, and driving mode synchronization. All versions are equipped with continuous damping variable shock absorbers and dual-chamber air springs with adjustable height, allowing the vehicle to adapt to a variety of road conditions. The braking system features Brembo four-piston calipers, ensuring excellent performance and stopping distances of 33.9 meters from 100 km/h.

Enhanced Safety and Intelligent Features

The YU7 utilizes a steel-aluminum hybrid "armored cage" body structure, providing superior torsional rigidity. The SUV is equipped with a 1500MPa scratch-resistant battery underbody beam and a "bulletproof coating", ensuring top-level safety. The vehicle also passes 50 safety tests, meeting C-NCAP and C-IASI standards.

For intelligent driving, the YU7 includes NVIDIA DRIVE Thor chips (700 TOPS), one LiDAR, 4D millimeter-wave radar, and 11 cameras, enabling comprehensive end-to-end assisted driving. The vehicle's HyperOS 2.0 system, combined with the third-generation Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 platform, offers OTA upgrades in just 15 minutes.

The YU7 is expected to be priced directly competing with high-end models like the Tesla Model Y and Li Auto L6. Xiaomi’s founder, Lei Jun, emphasized that the YU7 is designed for those who "cannot tolerate mediocrity" and blends driving pleasure with family practicality. Starting immediately, the YU7 will be displayed at showrooms nationwide, with deliveries beginning in July.

With the second phase of production at the Wuhan plant, Xiaomi plans to increase its annual production capacity to 300,000 units, ensuring strong market supply.
