Fiat Launches Tris Electric Three-Wheeler for Global Urban Logistics
Fiat has introduced its first commercial electric three-wheeler, the Tris, aimed at urban mobility and last-mile logistics. Built on a shared Stellantis platform, the Tris offers a compact, eco-friendly design with up to 540kg payload capacity and 90km range on a single charge.
Fiat Unveils Tris: Its First Commercial Electric Three-Wheeler
In a surprising move into the light commercial EV market, Fiat has officially introduced the Fiat Tris, a compact and practical electric three-wheeler designed for urban delivery and short-distance logistics. This innovative EV will first launch in Africa and the Middle East, with the possibility of entering European markets if it performs above expectations.
Designed in Italy, Built for Versatility
The Fiat Tris is the work of Italy’s Centro Stile design center, measuring 3.1 meters in length. It features a closed cockpit, dual-tone exterior, and pixel-style LED headlights that reflect the latest Fiat design language. Its appearance blends functionality with a modern aesthetic, aiming to serve both style-conscious and business-focused users.
Practical and Safety-Focused Interior
Inside, the cabin focuses on utility and convenience. Key interior features include a 5.7-inch digital instrument cluster, a sealed glove box, USB-C and 12V power ports, and three-point seat belts. A reverse warning system adds to the safety suite, making it ideal for dense urban environments.
Urban-Optimized Cargo Performance
Weighing 1,025 kg, the Fiat Tris offers 2.25 square meters of cargo space and can carry loads up to 540 kg—an impressive 53% of its curb weight. It is designed to fit a standard European pallet, optimizing it for logistics and urban deliveries.
The Tris comes in three configurations: cab chassis, flatbed, and pickup, providing flexibility for different commercial use cases and delivery needs.
Efficient and Clean Electric Powertrain
Powering the Tris is a 48V electric motor with 9 kW (12 hp) output and 45 Nm of torque. The vehicle reaches a top speed of 45 km/h, which is ideal for short-range, low-speed urban traffic.
The EV is equipped with a 6.9 kWh battery pack, offering a range of up to 90 km under WLTP standards. An integrated charging head enables convenient recharging: 0–80% in 3.5 hours and full charge in about 4.67 hours, making it perfect for overnight recharging.
A Strategic Entry into the Micro-EV Segment
The Fiat Tris shares its Moroccan production line with other Stellantis microcars, such as the Citroën Ami. With growing demand for sustainable urban transport and micro EV solutions, Fiat’s move into this segment reflects a strategic step toward last-mile delivery electrification.
If the Tris finds success in its initial markets, a European rollout could soon follow, potentially redefining how compact commercial EVs are used in crowded city centers.
