Li Auto Prepares to Launch i8 in July

Li Auto is preparing to officially launch its new all-electric SUV, the Li Auto i8, in July. The vehicle was approved for production earlier this year in April by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. Positioned as a pure electric midsize SUV, the i8 represents a fresh addition to the growing Li Auto i-series.

Striking Exterior Design Inspired by the MEGA
The Li i8 adopts many visual cues from the MEGA MPV, including its signature “high-speed rail” inspired front fascia. The wide front end is paired with a streamlined windshield and a distinctive circular daytime running light under the windshield, enhancing the vehicle's futuristic presence. Compared to the MEGA, which leans towards MPV styling, the i8’s cockpit is narrower, lending it a more SUV-like stance while maintaining design consistency with its sibling.

MPV-Like Side Profile with a Sporty Touch
On the side, the i8 blends SUV and MPV design languages. Its silhouette resembles vehicles like the BYD Song MAX, offering spaciousness without compromising on sleekness. The roofline flows smoothly from front to rear, gradually tapering after the B-pillar to add a dynamic touch. Hidden door handles are integrated seamlessly into the body, reflecting a trend among modern electric vehicles for improved aerodynamics and aesthetics.

Rear-End Design Echoes MEGA DNA

At the rear, the Li i8 continues the MEGA-inspired theme with a full-width LED taillight strip. This design enhances the visual width and layering of the vehicle. The sculpted rear and integrated lighting elements give the SUV a modern, high-tech appearance. Dimensionally, the Li i8 measures 5085mm in length, 1960mm in width, and 1740mm in height, with a generous wheelbase of 3050mm—ensuring spacious interior accommodations.

Dual-Motor Powertrain and Two Range Options
Under the hood, the Li i8 is powered by a dual-motor all-wheel drive setup. The front motor delivers up to 150kW, while the rear motor offers 250kW. These motors are supplied by Hefei Juyi Power Systems and Jiangsu Li Auto Power Technologies, respectively. The SUV is equipped with ternary lithium battery packs from two top-tier battery producers: Jiangsu Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Ltd. and Zhejiang Sunwoda Electric Vehicle Battery Co., Ltd.

The i8 will be available with two range options based on configuration: 670km and 720km. These figures place it in direct competition with other long-range electric SUVs in the market, providing consumers with a solid balance of performance and driving endurance.
