BYD officially disclosed its 2026 mid-year financial report on August 28, delivering a half-year performance marked by divergent results against the backdrop of escalating price wars and intense competition in China's new energy sector.

The company reported operating revenue of 344.82 billion yuan for the first half of 2026, with net profit attributable to shareholders at 12.33 billion yuan and earnings per share of 1.35 yuan. R&D expenditure reached 28.9 billion yuan during the period, bringing cumulative R&D investment to over 270 billion yuan as BYD continues to double down on core technologies across vehicles, batteries, and energy storage.
Operating cash flow came in at 37.3 billion yuan, with cash reserves standing at 167.4 billion yuan, underscoring a solid and secure financial position.
On the production and sales front, the group sold a cumulative 1.81 million vehicles in the first half, including 789,000 units exported overseas—a year-on-year surge of 67.9%. In June alone, overseas sales exceeded 174,900 units, setting a new monthly record and cementing international markets as the primary growth engine.

BYD continued to solidify its global leadership in new energy vehicles and energy storage. Its energy storage business is operating at full capacity, with orders already booked through 2028, positioning it as a second growth pillar. The high-end product lineup comprising Denza, Fangchengbao, and Yangwang brands collectively sold 227,900 units in the half-year, up 61% year on year, driving steady upward expansion.
New technologies including the second-generation blade battery and flash charging platform are progressively being deployed in vehicles, accelerating product iteration and upgrades.

Also notably, BYD officially commissioned its 10,000th flash charging station on the same day, covering 332 cities and offering industry-leading charging speeds of five minutes for a full charge and nine minutes for a complete charge.
