NIO Unveils Upgraded ET5 and ET5T with Smart Cockpit, Refined Design, and Enhanced Driving Dynamics
NIO has officially revealed its refreshed ET5 and ET5T models, boasting major enhancements in design, technology, and user experience. With upgraded interiors, cutting-edge smart driving chips, and expanded color options, the new models redefine the brand’s electric sedan offerings.
NIO ET5 and ET5T Officially Revealed with Major Upgrades
NIO has officially released the redesigned ET5 and ET5T, both receiving comprehensive upgrades in styling, cabin experience, smart features, and driving performance. Pre-orders opened on May 10 with a deposit of ¥5,000 (approximately $690), and the vehicles will officially launch on May 25.
Refined Exterior Design with New Colors
The refreshed ET5 and ET5T adopt a more sculpted and dynamic front-end design. The addition of ADB intelligent matrix headlights paired with revamped Double-Dash daytime running lights gives the front fascia a more assertive and sophisticated appearance. The sculpted front hood, defined by bold character lines, further enhances the muscular look.
Two new exterior colors debut with this update. The ET5 introduces "Faraway Purple," inspired by the lavender hues of a Santorini sunset. The ET5T adds "Moonlight Silver," taking cues from the luminous full moon over Meili Snow Mountain.
High-gloss black elements now appear on the front and rear bumpers, side skirts, and blade-style rear diffuser, contributing to a sleek and premium aesthetic. Additionally, the new 20-inch five-spoke “Wind Speed” wheels, featuring a dual-tone blade insert design, offer improved aerodynamic performance.
Smart Interior Aligned with Flagship ET9
The interiors of the updated ET5 and ET5T align closely with NIO’s flagship ET9 sedan. A new-generation intelligent cockpit features a horizontally oriented high-definition display, enhancing user interaction and infotainment accessibility.
Powering this experience is NIO’s in-house developed intelligent driving chip, boasting performance equivalent to four top-tier industry processors. This chip provides exceptional computational capability and dynamic task allocation, offering robust support for advanced assisted driving systems.
Dual-Motor Power and Extended Range
Both the ET5 and ET5T are expected to retain the powerful dual-motor setup from their predecessors. The system combines a front induction asynchronous motor with a rear permanent magnet synchronous motor, delivering a total output of 490 horsepower and a peak torque of 700 Nm.
Battery options include 75kWh and 100kWh packs, supporting CLTC ranges of 560 kilometers and 710 kilometers respectively, offering flexibility for both urban and long-distance driving needs.
